My cat is missing

My big orange tabby escaped this afternoon. He is strictly a housecat and his name is Tiger. I left the house, and didn't close the door tight enough, and the wind blew it open. I have turned the house upside down, but he is gone. I have already gone door to door all over the neighborhood and left a number to call if somebody finds him.
What are the chances he will come back home? (it's freezing, and he has NEVER been outside before)
He is tatooed.
What else can I do?
