Raising chickens in Brandon?

We were at a supper in Saskatoon over the weekend where two of the guests (husband & wife) were set on the idea of raising chickens in their backyard. This is of course not legal in Saskatoon and I'm assuming not in Brandon?
These people felt that it would be a trend over the next several years for cities to start allowing chickens to be raised as pets on personal property within city limits, producing eggs to feed the resident family.

Is this something you would consider doing? How would you feel if your neighbours had a coop?
