Textaholism
4/13/2009 at 3:27 PM
There is an epidemic sweeping the land and it’s called textaholism. Symptoms are self-explanatory.In fact, etiquette in general all but vanishes for one who has a text problem.
Where do I see “rude” texting behavior? At the Dinner Table. In the home of another person. In the movie theater, at a play,in a classroom, in a business meeting, at a conference table. Oh, let’s face it: We see THIS rude behavior EVERYWHERE!
Why do people believe it totally acceptable to just pop out their phone and read an incoming text message and then laugh out loud at something private, (LOL, you know?) and then frantically type a response, all too often WITHOUT REGARD to WHERE THEY ARE, WHO THEY ARE WITH, and whether or not it is an appropriate activity to be engaging in at the time?
