Possession of Stolen Property / Drug Trafficking / Two Arrested
At 3:30 AM on Tuesday, Police received a call from security at the Keystone grounds, indicating that they had people they wanted removed from the area for trying to steal several teddy bears. When a woman involved was given a ride to her residence on Aster Crescent by Police, they observed previously stolen toy bears inside the residence in plain sight. As Police were retrieving the stolen teddy bears with permission, they noticed a large amount of drugs and cash, and the Crime Support Unit was called in. A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence, resulting in the seizure of roughly 9 grams of cocaine, along with a quantity of marihuana and ecstasy. The value of the drugs is estimated at just over $1000.00. Approximately $1500.00 in cash was also seized as proceeds of crime. The recovered stuffed animals were valued at about $650.00. A 20 year old Brandon woman and a 25 year old Brandon man, both of the residence involved, were arrested and charged. They will each appear in court on August 10th, 2009, on charges of possession of stolen property. They will appear again in court on August 13th, 2009, on charges of trafficking in cocaine and ecstasy, possession of marihuana and possession of proceeds of crime.
