1st street north

I thought I was being "smart" heading home yesterday from the North hill and use 1st instead of 18th.
The wife picked me up and she said everyone else was going to do that too.
pffffff I said. Even if it is busier from locals 18th would be still backed up from the locals and out of towners going to the coral centre etc.
I know with the summer fair traffic the roads are busier but I can easily say I have never ever seen 1st street so busy.
It was close to bumper to bumper as I headed South but I felt soory for those trying to turn onto Kirkaldy off of 1st stree from the south( traffic heading North). We were behind semis etc that really gave no break in traffic for those waiting to turn on Kirkaldy and with no turning light( I think) I only saw a couple of cars make that turn before the light turned red. The traffic waiting to turn looked to myself as being 30 or 40 cars long. A long city block at least anyways.
The construction on 1st will soomn start. I guess I will just have have more patience this summer!!
