26 yr old Bdn woman charged with fraud of elderly Brandon man

From this morning's BPS releases, a sad sounding case that went on in our city over the first few months of this year:

Brandon Police received a report from family members of an elderly Brandon man that his bank account had been tampered with and a considerable amount of money had gone missing.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect a 26 year old Brandon women had befriended the elderly gentleman and convinced him to turn over to her some funds to help her with a medical condition.
Between February and June of 2009 funds in excess of $15,000. was reported to have been removed from the victim’s bank account.
The 26 year old female suspect was arrested by Police on June 9th, 2009, charged with Fraud over $5,000., and is to appear in Brandon Provincial Court on August 4th, 2009 in answer to the charge.
