Over 90 planes to land in Brandon

This July, over 90 planes of various ages and sizes will be flying across Canada to commemorate 100 years of flight. This historic undertaking will be filmed and recorded for a 2 hour documentary film and TV Series. On July 19th these planes, along with roughly 250 people will land in Brandon. To welcome the pilots and crew to Manitoba and to celebrate a century of flight, Brandon is hosting community celebrations from 12:00pm – 6:00pm at the Brandon Airport. There is no cost to attend the event: which includes witnessing an amazing array of planes landing, viewing several aircraft displays, free admission to the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, live entertainment and music, vendors, unique displays and various children’s activities, as well as great food and refreshments available for purchase.
Pilots and crew of the Century Flight tour will be staying two nights in Brandon, taking Monday to enjoy what Brandon and Southwest Manitoba have to offer. On Tuesday, July 21st between 8am and 12pm, the flight will continue on the remainder of their journey to Canada’s East Coast. The public is invited to watch the planes depart. Spectators can purchase and enjoy pancake the breakfast that will be served at the Brandon Flying Club.
Community Volunteers Needed:
Individuals who are interested in volunteering are invited to visit www.brandon.ca/centuryflight or contact Brandon First at 729-2156 or info@brandonfirst.com. There are many volunteer opportunities available in various areas such as: pre-planning, parking, security, gate attendants, set up, clean up, food service and others. The event will be taking place on the Brandon Airport grounds from 12:00pm-6:00pm, July 19th, however volunteers will be needed prior to and following the event as well. Brandon and Westman intend to offer the century flight pilots a warm Manitoba welcome, please consider contributing to this historic event!
