This is the first time I have posted on here but when I saw this thread I had to comment. The two girls that are going around selling books door to door are part of a very good program that The Southwestern Company supports every year. You can check out and read up on the company at southwestern.com. The Southwestern Company has been around for over 150 years and help me put myself through university I was in the program for three years and would not change the experience for anything. I went to school in Minot so I sold in North Carolina, Florida, and Missouri. The books the girls are selling are very helpful to any age, from kids just learning their letters up to grade 12. I have many friends that still do this every year all over Canada and the United States. The girls have been taught to be professional and make sure that they try to talk to every family in their sales area through the summer. In the cases where people haven’t answered the door and the girls have some back they are simply trying to catch you at home if you don’t answer the door the can’t be sure you don’t want the books and don’t want to miss your family. The girls aren't lying when they say they haven't got time to come back as the girls work about 80 hours a week giving over 30 demonstrations a day trying to catch every family. One of the girls is mainly here in Brandon and the other girl mostly in the surrounding area, so that is a lot of territory to cover in a couple of months. I know Brandon is full of friendly people it is one of the reason I moved back here when I finished school so I hope everyone is at least courteous with the girls as they are simply trying to make some money to pay for school and are working very hard to do it. It rarely takes more then a couple of minutes for the girls to run through how the books might help your kids, take the time and if it doesn’t work for you the girls will understand.
