Police - Speed Limits?
7/28/2009 at 7:43 PM
Driving along the #1 Highway early this afternoon and an RCMP officer in a marked truck turns on around Carberry and then heads towards Brandon. He passes me (I'm going 110) and then speeds ahead. I increase my speed to try to measure what he is doing and I still can't keep up with him doing 120. I guess he was at about 125 km. I saw him turn off at the Chater corner so I guessed he was heading back to the Brandon detachment for lunch. My kids are with me and ask why the policeman is speeding? I ask that too - why can police speed when they aren't in pursuit? And this is not the first time this has happened. A couple of weeks ago a Brandon Community police car passed me on the #1 at about MacGregor and was going about 125 km heading towards Brandon. And a few weeks before that a Rivers Police car zoomed passed heading towards Winnipeg.
Does this happen to others or is it just me? Do police think they have their own speed limit and should they have their own limits? I thought they should be role models???
And another question is why isn't the #1 Highway at 110 km when the rest of the prairies is that limit? Is there any logical reason for this??
Do I spend too much time thinking about stupid stuff when I'm driving?
