Brandon on a "Local TV matters" ad
12/20/2009 at 4:10 AM
So Brandon's now being used for the whole "Local TV Matters" campaign, I'm here watching Deja View and a commercial for "Local TV Matters" comes on, it has a prof from BU speaking about how it's crucial to have the local TV matters campaign as CKX was the only TV station that kept up to date on local news for Brandon. The ad also shows a quick montage of Brandon (Brandon University, McKenzie Seeds building, City Hall).
I find this whole "Local TV Matters"/TV Tax ads thing a load of dirt. IF Chum hadn't bought up CKX, and CTV hadn't bought up Chum, we'd still probably have a TV station to this very day, it's all politics, companies are always looking to make a quick buck wherever they can. Personally, CKX was one of the only TV stations in Canada that truely broadcasted "local news", if you watch say CTV Winnipeg or CBC Toronto news, it's almost the exact same news cast as the other network stations across the country, you never knew what city's news you would be tuning in to. But I want to refrain from having this thread turn dirty, I just posted this as it was just neat to see Brandon on a TV ad.. even if it was because of something horrible that happened to our community.
