Looking for help in a hit and run
1/7/2010 at 9:33 PM
A coworker's daughter was recently involved in an accident in which she was hit by another vehicle that sped away. I said that I would post to eBrandon in hopes that someone may know something.
On Monday, January 4th, at around 1:30 PM in the afternoon, the daughter was driving westbound on Lorne Avenue when a car northbound on Dennis, ran the yield, hitting the daughter's car in the driver's side front fender, spinning her around and she subsequently hit a parked car with the driver's side rear quarter panel. The offending vehicle did not stop to see if the daughter was okay. The force of the impact did over $3000 damage to the front of the daughter's car. The damage to the rear quarter panel as well as the parked car is minimal, but is now considered the fault of the daughter as no witnesses saw the accident. As you would expect, this will result in the daughter being responsible for her vehicle's damage, the parked vehicle's damage, a surcharge on her license, among other things.
I know it is a long shot, but I was hoping someone might know something about this or if there were any witnesses who might substantiate the story. With the damage done to her car, there must be a car driving around with damage to the passenger side front fender and/or front bumper/front end. Maybe the owner of that vehicle will claim 'wildlife' accident to avoid the costs associated with a vehicle-vehicle accident. As the accident occured relatively quickly and she had not expected the other vehicle to speed away following the accident, the only description was that the car was red in color. Beyond that, it would be speculatory to say what make or model or year it would be.
Like I said, it is a long shot but it would really be incredibly unfair for this young lady to bear the responsibility of all the damage. If it were her fault, why would the other vehicle speed away?
Let's see the power of eBrandon.
PM me if necessary.
Thanks to all.
