I Love Brandon Video Challenge
1/15/2010 at 5:16 PM
I've been looking at all the various comments that have been made on another thread about the I Love Brandon youtube video and some things occurred to me:
1. What's the point in complaining about things that you think are wrong with the video?
2. It's not as if the people in the video were elected or selected to be part of the video.
3. Nobody needs permission to create a video telling the world how they feel about Brandon. All they need is a the equipment to make the video and the know-how to create it and post it on youtube.
4. If people are so offended by the current video, the slogan or anything else, why don't they stop complaining and do something better? The only thing stopping them is a lack of courage. Or maybe they would rather complain than do something about it.
So, there it is. If you have a problem with the current I Love Brandon video, and you think you could do better, step up to the plate and prove it.
let's go a step further, I would suggest that ebrandon (maybe with the participation of others like the Chamber of Commerce, Star FM/CKLQ, the Brandon Sun and others) should start a contest devoted to who can come up with the best short video about Brandon. Maybe there could be prizes and other awards.
2010 is Manitoba's homecoming. The winning video could be chosen during some special homecoming event.
The bottom line is that this would be a way to build civic pride and a great way to get everybody (not just a select few) involved in the process.
What do you think?
