The Province and Synchronization of lights?

Despite this discussion before on ebrandon, there is NO way that synchronized lights are in place on our major traffic streets. I disagree with anyone saying they are. It's not the City, but the Province, however the City should be putting the pins to the Province to get this done. Lots of kvetching about accidents and the cost to Brandon, but no action on the City's behalf.
Why is it in Winnipeg that you can pace nicely down Portage Avenue or any other major artery for miles, miles and miles before hitting a light? It's pretty sweet.
Where are most of our City accidents happening? Provincial Roads that run through Brandon. Don't quote me, but I believe that these streets are under the Provincial jurisdiction: 1st and 18th, Victoria, Richmond.
Accidents are always going to happen, but not at this disproportionate rate. The stop-start-stop-start stupid a** mentality certainly doesn't improve the situation. Head south on 18th from Highway #1 at the regulated speed limit. You get a green parallel to the Corral Centre and move toward the next light metres away and hit a long red light. STOP-START-STOP-START-STOP-START.. Hmmm, do I read fender benders?
I just shake my head at this, because the Provincial Highways should be on this.
Also on Victoria Avenue, I have lived in this City my entire life and I could count on one hand the times where I have actually made it from 1st Street to maybe 26th Street - 34th if I'm lucky..doing exactly the speed limit and hitting every light.
Maybe a petition is in order to get the Province off their butts, look at the development and growth in Brandon instead of having 'Perimeter-itis' and look after us so-called 'hicks' out here in the Boonies.
The costs (MPI, family tragedies, inconvenience) are crazy and we all pay in the end. Not to mention the negative vibe mentioned on site like this about poor drivers in Brandon. A Lose-lose if you ask me.
If the Province of Manitoba had any brains knowing that the development of the bridge was coming with a high cost is MPI claims, maybe they could commission their Highways Branch to fix this un-synched mess and actually synch the lights with daily traffic volumes. Then, at least accidents are somewhat minimized.
GIVE US SYNCHRONIZED TRAFFIC LIGHTS. Somebody...PLEASE!!!
And check out this dated report.
