Ants are taking over my kitchen!

Anyone else having problems with these pests? We've never has them this bad before. They are into everything. I'm looking for ideas to rid them with minimal toxic effects for people and pets, any suggestions?
We have put out those little ant feeder things that they supposedly carry the food back to their queen, but don't see any less of them, if anything they are multiplying by the hour.
