A nice gesture by Brandon salons

Came across this info in the last few days and figured it was post-worthy even if it was done a few weeks ago..
Many of us have I'm sure given some thought to if there's a way that we can help with the recovery from the BP oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.
After learning that excess hair can be used in the fight against the spill, six local salons did just that in banding together, pooling their excess cut hair and in mid-June sending it South where it could be used to help in the recovery effort.
Apparently one pound of hair is able to soak up one quart of oil, making for a more effective boom than traditional ones (this Youtube video shows a comparison:

Kudos to the salons that were in on this..
The Cutting Room (which as I understand it organized this initiative locally)
Hair Haven
Renatas
Euphoria
Pantages
Ultracuts
More info on the program that they contributed to can be found at:

Things are now apparently at the point where they have as much hair as they can handle, with the main challenge being creating the booms quick enough!
