I am considering purchasing a new SUV and am debating both of these vehicles. I am wanting some feedback. I have driven both and the Equinox clearly is a smoother ride. It is probably not fair to compare them however as the Equinox came with soft ride suspension whereas the RAV4 Sport has a sport suspension. But the interior of the Equinox clearly looks better although it seems more confusing with all the controls. The base model price for both is virtually the same however you get more bells and whistles with the Equinox. What bothers me about GM is that it is hard to locate a base model or close to it because they order them all loaded especially at this time of year. The biggest thing for me, however, is the resale value. I currently have a 2006 Equinox and am appalled by how much I can get for it. Meanwhile, if I had the same year Rav 4 with the same kilometeres it would be worth at least $5000 more.
