The issue of rolled coin
1/30/2007 at 1:13 AM
If you were a retailer, would you take rolled coin as a method of payment for, oh, lets say, uh...fuel and a drink?
Its a yes or no answer.
When I was working retail in Brandon, we would take rolled coin, providing it was counted out to us first by the customer (unless it was busy, in which case we'd use our discretion-either ask for I.D., or break it open to make sure it was coin and not bingo chips or kleenex). A store which I will keep nameless, but refer to as the Big Buffalo on 9th and Vic refused to take rolled coin, even if you broke it open and counted it in front of the clerk.
I felt getting rolled coin meant one less trip to the bank to get coin.
When I moved to Saskatoon in January, every store I've been to (I am a energy drink rep) took rolled coin from their customers and called it a blessing of sorts. They love getting rolled coin, and don't even check the rolls for shortages. Its a big difference from Brandon.
So yes or no, if you were a retailer in Brandon, would you accept rolled coin?
