Crocheting

I am just starting in to crocheting and am very confused about the lingo in the books and how to even start. I'm sure once i get the hang of it, i can fly right through it but i'm looking for some other ladies who would want to get together once a week or so to have some us time, have a chat, meet new people and learn some new ideas.
Anyone interested?
