Holiday Grief ends in a smile
12/22/2010 at 11:16 PM
Today was the first day I ventured out since losing my best friend last Friday. I have been grieving of course but it was all the worse when I was in the mall surrounded by what seemed like everyone else happily shopping for the holidays. I lost it and I had to get out of there fast.
I went downtown and this time I told myself before going in to the store that I could manage my grief for 10 minutes.
Upon entering the store, I looked around and must've looked like a scared animal. The clerk looked at me and turned away but then turned around to look at me again. I approached her and got to the point, "Can you help me find something to put the ashes of my friend in?" SOB! SOB!
This lady was so great. She took me to the back where I wouldn't be so embarassed by my outbreak. She said she would find items and bring them to me.
I was so grateful to her and her manager. Not only were they very helpful and understanding but I found the most beautiful hand carved wooden box which was perfect. The ladies offered me tissues and conversation and made me feel alot better.
I went in to the store with dread and I left with a smile.. A heartfelt thank you to you both.
