Brandon needs more indoor skating!!

Does anyone else agree with me? There is virtually little opportunity for public skating indoors in Brandon. I have a 3 year old and 18 month old. I would like to go for family skates and also teach my 3 year old to skate.
The Sportsplex offer NO public skate time on the weekends. and during the week, the public skate times are during the morning mostly from 9 am - Noon when a lot of people are working. There is Disco Skate on some Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm and we plan to take part in this but this is pretty late for little ones.
I just think that with the climate we endure in this part of the country, ie 5-6 months with below zero temperatures, there should be more of an emphasis on providing opportunities to practice winter sports. This winter, in my opinion has been very cold and January and February are most always very cold in Manitoba
I am well aware that are many outdoor opportunities ie the skating oval and community center rinks....well, we intend to do that to, but not when it is colder than 20 below with a 3 year old and 18 month old, I just don't like the idea. I also did take my daughter to one outdoor rink in our area a couple of times and there was hockey being played.
Additionally, I have signed my daughter up for learn to skate class, the only one in Brandon that I am aware. I was very dismayed at the first class to learn that all the kids there could already skate - they have lumped 3-4 levels of kids in one class due to lack of instructors but also due to lack of ice time available because there is really only one indoor rink.
What do others think? Does Brandon need more indoor ice? If Brandon loses the Sportsplex pool, would the next best use of that space and for the center be in indoor winter sports complex?
