A medical APPT in Winnipeg

My wife has a medical Appt in Winnipeg today. It is a test that could be postponed. The question I have to ask. Is it wise to drive to Winnipeg today and whats the chances of getting stranded there tonight? will the highway be closed?
She is bound and determined to go and I don`t agree. whats your thoughts so I can pass them along
