In Friday's Paper

I noticed an article in the sports section about Isreal Idonije being honoured by the Mayor of Winnipeg. nice big picture and all.
And it got me to wondering.... did Brandon do anything to welcome him home? I'm not necessarily talking about the paper, because while the action was going on he was all over the papers, but what about Brandon itself??
Were there any special events planned for him to show him how his own town is proud of him? Maybe there were and I just missed hearing about it - but if there wasn't - it seems such a shame.
