Charities, a four letter word

There’s no nice way to say this..I am sick to death of being accosted everywhere I go by people representing good and worthy causes. Ever since the different governments cut back on their funding of same, I am inundated with charities of every size and description wanting me to donate. Who made me the cash cow! Now I know that when the governments supported these charities I paid with my taxes that’s a given but I was not on the front doorstep having to field these requests. Okay I’m sounding like a no goodnik but I’m damn tired of it. Good causes or not I can’t even go to the grocery store without being approached either by canvassers or store cashiers, telemarketers calling me at all times. I can’t go to a sports event without being asked for alms, I can’t open the door on Halloween without the request for food donations, the workplace wants to deduct off my paycheque for charities, all be it providing the old “ I gave at the office” excuse. I’m not a cheapskate and I have empathy for the down and out and sick but I only have so much and I’d don’t like feeling like a jerk because I’ve had enough! I think I would prefer the “on my taxes thing” to knock, knock who’s there. And another thing it seems once you give to one charity they give your name out to all the others and… away we go. To the Charities.." I will give to the causes I want and no amount of badgering by others will deter me from my path… so bug off!! But you won’t will you."
