The Humble Brandon Parade and all it's pros and cons.....
6/9/2007 at 12:17 PM
Well, I never planned on being in the parade...people like me just somehow get caught up in it! LOL
Anyhow, I had pulled aside to make some notes and do a little car work because of some customers I had just had, and all of a sudden I see people lined up reminding me that there was a parade going on. When the kids are grown you don't often go as often.
I actually sat and people watched, as I had no choice. The ambulances and emergency vehicles went through and waved, and I thought "yay, I'll sit here and watch the action - they should be right behind!" Then there were a pile of classic re-vamped cars...like Cruise Night Cars.
20 minutes later (after the emerg vehicles and classic cars strolled through slowly with big waves) ...nothing more. It seemed like ages.
I had to leave as I had things pressing.
That was one mightly big gap! I was hoping the actual parade was less than 20 minutes behind.
Anyhow...
Lady knitting (she knit half a scarf waiting for the parade - because I watched)
Good looking man with monstrously hairy legs.
Lots of happy people, just relaxing.
Man with new large puppy trying to control the poor little guy. Not the dog's fault.
Bored kids begging for food from a Mom with a large cooler.
Lots of people looking like they were actually camping for the day with umbrellas, coolers, blankets, and such..
As much as I find fault with the huge gaps in the parade, I do appreciate the humbleness still of our City Parade.
Especially when fire vehicles, busses and Lord only knows what, are part of the it.
I used to love the parade and taking the kids was an intregal part of our summer. I still love it, even though it's a little hokey and slow.
Just my 2 cents worth!
