Take precautions...
7/6/2007 at 11:31 AM
Yesterday morning our home was broken into while we were home (2900 block of Rosser Avenue). Cash and a cell phone were taken from the house and my son's Norco Manik was taken from the garage. There were also 2 break-ins up the street on Princess Avenue the same time frame. This morning my husband was going out to sit in the hot tub and noticed a guy in the lane looking into the back yard (this was at 4:45 a.m. - just when it is starting to get light out) Police were called and arrived within 5 minutes. They said there were also 6 other patrol cars in the area.
These break-ins are happening throughout the entire city and we want to get the word out that precautions need to be taken to protect yourselves and your property. Lock your doors even if you are in the house. Secure gates to your yard. Lock your garage and make sure bikes are locked as well as anything else of any value. Motion lights, alarms, any other suggestions?
The bike was found on Clark Drive and the police returned it to us - it doesn't look to be damaged but we will be having it checked over. Thank you to BPS for responding so quickly when we have called and for returning the bike to us. What more can we do to make our neighborhoods safe? It's an awful feeling to be continually looking over your shoulder after being violated like this.
