In a recent conversation about "downtown" Brandon, talks were brought up about a concept that was shared in a recent letter to the editor of the Brandon Sun in how changing what we call "downtown" Brandon to the "business sector" of Brandon. I found this quite interesting in how the misconception of what we call something plays a trick in our heads to make us think of the negative side of the words being spoken. When I say the word "downtown" what comes to mind...I'm sure that all of you reading this can relate a word or two about what your thoughts are of the word "downtown". Now when I say "business sector", a whole new meaning of the area comes to mind. I know that I'm throwing this out there as a concept of what I have only heard from a letter to the editor, but it sure makes you think. What are your thoughts?? Is there much difference in calling it Downtown Brandon or the Business Sector of Brandon.
