I need advice..

I've just recently turned 18 years old, and I've never worked before because of medical issues - and I also missed a year of school because of that. But I need to start looking for work, I think I'm ready to do it but I don't know where to begin, I don't know anything about resumes and such..
Any advice on how to proceed?
