It's been two years now since this issue made headlines:

In a nutshell, a couple had purchased a pair of Segways (
http://www.segway.com ) but were unable to use them because they aren't allowed to be ridden in the city.
Does anyone know if the laws pertaining to these machines in Brandon have been re-visited since this issue? When we were in California last summer, there were quite a few people riding them around and they seemed to fit in quite well with the surroundings... not to mention they looked like a fun and efficient way to get around. They seem like an idea whose time has come... even for smaller cities with shorter commutes such as Brandon.
Also if these were legal in Brandon, who would consider purchasing one at the approx $5000 price tag (used ones can be had for under $2000)?
