So we were at the fair Friday night walking in front of us was two younger guys early 20s we ended up following each other around taking in the fair when I said to my wife lets go for a drink the one younger fellow hear us and said that sounds like a good plan we ended up sitting at tables close to the younger guys So a under cover city police officer comes up to the young guys and asks for I D they gave it to him but instead of handing the I D back to he guys he drops it on the ground He proceeded to tell them to pick up there I D off the ground and that they werent welcome there The one young guys sasy what did we do wrong the cop replies do you want to spend the night in jail The young guys picked there I D up and left I wish I had of had my phone so I could of recorded how you treated these young guys, You should be ashamed to treat people like that and i am ashamed that my taxes go to pay a persons like your wages. Then you proceed to go stand in the corner with three of your other cop buddies and laugh about it real professional bunch we have. If you want respect you should really try and give some it may take you a lot farther than treating people this way

What's the other side of the story? You seem to be an expert so let's hear it. Likely these two are known to police and they did is all a favor by moving these two along. I think everyone should walk a mile in the cops shoes and experience the constant crap they have to put up with before spouting off about how they handle situations.

i do wonder if there is another side to the story, maybe these guys have been kicked out before? not allowed to drink ect. but still unprofessional, why dont you make a complaint?

There's not a lot of info here, credible or otherwise. I'd say there was more to the story than a "gang of cops" harassing innocent people.

It’s a tough job keeping things safe for the public, especially in a setting like the fair. If indeed it was the cops talking to these guys, there probably was a reason they were talking to them, rather than you or someone else.

It sounds like these guys were known to police for some reason. They weren't hurt, just told to leave. I'll trust the police had reason to not want them there. There was a very heavy police presence at the fair and they were needed. If you feel it was that awful, file a complaint.

They were on probation or had a " no drinking condition " always more to the story.

In looking at the BPS page, there was no mentioning of what the OP describe. There has to be another side the story. Just behave yourselves and its all good.

I worked downtown in a job that meant i was dealing with people who you would deem as "known" to police for a few years and despite the fact that some of the people who hung around down there are "known" and regardless of my own personal opinions on some of them, it didn't give any of us the right to belittle or demean them simply for existing. Give your head a shake.

Ur assuming probation. More would have been done if they were on probation...not just dropping his ID on purpose. .. I also seen these undercovers when I left. They did have badges on a necklace. They were just being Dinks clearly...they are to serve and protect...not harass, profile and intimidate.

Walk a mile in their shoes. Great idea. And done. I did that. Nobody in any career has the right to treat people with such a blatant lack of disrespect. Just because somebody has been arrested doesnt mean they dont deserve simplistic human decency and respect.

It's inconceivable that you people are pretty much asking for the heads of these undercover policemen without knowing the full story. Clearly you have no idea of the abuse that police go through pretty much daily from the low lives that they protect you from. We don't know the back story to this. This couple could have been kicked out of the fair the night before for some reason or they could have had a list of priors the length of your arm. The fact is we don't know. People in law enforcement see the same faces over and over again and know who the trouble makers are. The fact that they weren't treated with respect doesn't get any sympathy from me. The criminals police see daily don't understand the concept of respect to people or property or laws that the normal people of society do. If they did, they wouldn't be criminals.

I think some people are given too much power and they abuse it.
A few years ago I witnessed police officers mistreat someone downtown on a Thursday evening. It almost made me sick to my stomach. I don't care if he was known to the police, no one should be treated like that...
but then, when someone deserves to be treated that way (like what happened a few years ago on a certain Greyhound bus), no one touches him!!!

#1 How do you know this was an undercover cop? #2 If so what was the motive, hmm did you know that Brandon now has numerous gangs moving in, Could it be these nice young men may be known to police and where told to leave because of there criminal background or history of police dealing. Whats the other side of the story?

They behaved like jerk if they treated those young men like that . Even if those men had some problems before does not mean they will deserve to be treated like that every time they are somewhere and doing nothing .
May be some people choose to be police to be able to mis-use their power, bully others without being questioned. Next time, record it, send to their boss for getting what they do deserve. Being police, is a tough job, but if you can't act like a professional human, do not accept the job. They are getting paid to do the tough job, they must be responsible and act like a responsible person.

Two under cover cops walk into a bar a blow their cover just to ask for id and everyone went to the fair without their cell phones.

I totally believe.

That's just my opinion, and everyone is untitled to an opinion.

OP, do you have a lot of dealings with cops? I for one am glad that they cruise the fair looking for potential troublemakers!

So the police dropped your ID on the ground and was rude, and you cry out "violation of charter of rights and freedoms?" Do you do that to everyone that is rude to you as well?

Why does it seem there is a lot more to this then anyone cares to add?

...anyone else find it funny how so many people here slam/badmouth the police for every little thing, then turn around and cry how "kids these days have no respect for authority"? (Also, just the sheer amount of 'armchair officers' who think they can do SO much better in any given situation)

But yeah, definitely sounds like there's more to the story that's being withheld.

Sort of interesting and also sort of disturbing. Violation of rights, might not agree with that since no one has stated that they were asked to leave, but does leave me wondering if the identification had been (Accidentlly) dropped while being handed to the officer who would have been responsible for picking it up.

When it comes to police, laws and law enforcement I'm usually 99.9% onside, but there are instances that do make me wonder. If we were all judged by past events or actions in regards to the law, some people would be under suspistion all the time, and I don't believe that is the kind of country I would favor living in.

I'm old enough, and been around long enough to know that at times the idea of protecting society does get personal, and in my opinion it's not a good thing.

My question is does not everyone have the right to be at a public place? If the fellows had proper ID and were not causing a problem then why would they be asked to leave?
I know there is always two sides to every story but regardless of who these two guys where and their history or previous experience with the legal system I don't think they were treated right no matter how you look at it. Unless they were doing something illegal they should have been left alone. Watched if the police were concerned but left alone.
I believe emphatically in our BPS believing 98% do a fantastic job. And treat people with respect and dignity. Every I mean every work place had a bad apple or two.

It sounds like tough guys just playing with the kids by pretending to be cops. They dropped ID on floor and went back to 2 others and laughed about it, doesn't sound like real cops but if they did show real BPS ID then they're just big A-holes. If there was a serious reason they shouldn't be there then I think they would've been escorted out of the building. But, I don't know, I've never been in trouble or arrested lol

The cop was defiantly on the boarder of being in the wrong, he never really said they were to leave according to the OP he said they weren't welcome here. which is playing semantics but he was out to get under this kids skin obviously these two have a history I cant believe he was just picked at random ,I think the cop was just saying hello to an old friend in a very condescending way, he new what he could get away with

If this was the cop that busted him 3 years ago as a juvinial he would know he was border line legal drinking age and not be out of line checking his ID.
It would be interesting to know what happened to make this guy remember him and be so belligerent to him, this has to be be some kind of pay back.

Really? maybe an officer over exerted his authority ( he's human too ) would some of you rather have no police presence and get confronted by a gang member?Be thankful you live in a country with rule of law, some of you should live in some of the muslim controlled countries around the world. If your gay they kill you, if your a woman and your husband doesn't like you, he either beats you or kills you, and don't bother going to the police because women have no rights over there. I'm thankful for police officers.

The person mentioned that they had been in trouble as a youth, but don't remember them saying they were a gang member. I guess everyone has bad days but I think that when on the job, regardless of what you do, you don't let it affect the way you deal with people, just imagine the uproar if a doctor screwed up while operating on someone, would be having a bad day be an acceptable excuse, or what if a teacher sexually assaults a student, is it ok to say it's just human nature.
