It's that time of year again. I used to think drowning was a splashing/thrashing event with calls for help.

For the post. It is very eye opening.  
I was drowning once, years a go when I was about 10 years old. I was able to reach my hand to the side of the pool at our house and save myself before anybody had noticed what was going on. Thanks god, who helped me save my self. Also saving my family from not having an amazing child (lol)

Way back in time, I was a lifeguard. We were taught to basically keep a count and watch for someone suddenly missing. I still do that when I go to a beach or pool. It's a habit.

For this post! I only know how silent drowning is because my brother slipped under the water in the hot tub at the old waterslides here when he was 4. My parents were sitting in the hot tub right there but didn't notice...neither did anyone else but me! He just went under after stepping off the built up cement you used to sit on inside the hot tub, didn't make a sound or wave. My mom grabbed him when I pointed out he was drowning. I was scared because I was only 5. I still keep watch at pools & beaches of other peoples kids too that I don't even know because all I see is people on their damn phones these days! Another reason I always make my kid wear a life jacket to birthday parties too! After hosting 3 swimming parties I can tell you they can be very dangerous and I don't feel people pay attention enough when hosting them.
