Seen lots of police with automatic weapons out. Any word

Tried to take me dog yo the park but got told to turn around. They are on 4 of the streets now with guns drawn

Apparently it's a drug bust.

Just heard from our oldest the school is in lock down now

confirmation from my daughter who works there, that the school is in lockdown

but kids who walked were not allowed to leave, this was less than 10 minutes ago.

Any other information available? I live close by in Glendale and am concerned as to whether the situation could move our way. Especially after those guys were caught just down the street from me yesterday.

Not able to turn onto Braecrest from 1st.

Off of Braecrest with marked and unmarked cars. Lots of police on the north side of Braecrest.

Eastbound traffic is being detoured down Knowlton, with the Police blocking off between the intersection of Braecrest and Knowlton through to 1st St. Added a photo

Focus appears to be on the Southern area of White Swan. There was a question about Glendale.... There is no block preventing access to Centre Ave from 1st St. There is along White Swan St going South just past the 4-plexes (photo added). Please avoid the area if you can, you won't see anything more than what is in the pictures.

because she lives in White Swan. The issue is in the trailers on the south side of White Swan (across the alley from those new homes that front onto Braecrest) and in about the fourth or fifth trailer west along the alley. Everyone has to stay in their trailer (although if the guy is armed THAT won't stop any bullets going through a trailer). She says the Brandon Sun & news station are there along with scads of police have everything blocked off and there's some sort of negotiating going on. Possibly someone wanted on a warrant or a drug dealer holed up inside.

I can see out the window 3 roadblocks.

To the from-a-safe-distance observer everything looks as it did two hours ago except for the addition of a fire truck and ambulance seemingly on standby just down the street. The Police release at the link above is the most recently available information.

[i]INCIDENT COMMAND – Whiteswan TC:  
 
At approximately 2:00pm, Brandon Police Service received a call about a male who had threatened others and was highly agitated. He has numerous weapons at his residence and threatened to harm himself and Police.  
 
The Brandon Police Service Patrol units along with Brandon Police Service Tactical Response Unit sealed off the area and Brandon Police Service Crisis Negotiators attempted to make contact with the male subject. A 25 year old Brandon man surrendered to Police and was taken into custody, without injury, just prior to 8:00pm.  
 
The male subject was transported to BRHC for an assessment under the Mental Health Act.

Just wanted to second nunzio1's post.. There are never enough thank yous to the police..

The BPS has had two very busy days lately. One with catching the two pharmacy robbers, and now this. Great job Brandon Police Service!

I would also like to say Thank You to all the Police Officers who do such a great job!!!

it makes me wonder what makes people think that they need to do this type of thing. it's too bad that they can't consider what they are doing to the innocent people around them.

If this person is suffering with Mental Health issues, they are not "thinking", they are not "considering" their actions. They are in distress, and in need of help, which is sounds like he is receiving. I am not condoning his actions it was a very scary situation for all involved. Thankfully it was resolved without incident.
