    Is this weekend in fact considered to be the long weekend? Canada Day is on a Wednesday but I hear everyone say it's the long weekend? How will this work this year? Anyone know?

    I don't think it's a long weekend for many unless they took extra days off. For myself, I took next Thursday/Friday off with the Wednesday to give me an extra long weekend.  
     
    Now you have me wondering!! I was planning to do some tests at the lab on Friday, guess I should make sure they're open!

    My company was wondering the same thing and apparently it is not considered "sacred" like Remembrance Day would be. We found out that as long as there is some day during the year that the employees take off, then you can legally work Canada Day. I myself will be having a long weekend with getting the Friday off instead of the Wednesday.

    My work everyone is working July 1st and has picked a Monday or Friday within the next week or so to take of instead so they we all get a long weekend

    Unionized employees will have July 1 off, and work the Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri.
