Railway Horns

A railroad is required to blow two long, one short and one long blast at every road crossing, including the CPR crossing at 26th Steet near Macdonald Avenue. Where the crossing has lights and barriers, the railroad can stop blowing the whistle if asked but whoever requests this (in this case the City of Brandon), but the city would have to pay for insurance, which it has been reluctant to do in the past. There are six crossings between 6th and 13th streets, three with warning lights, on the CNR track and every train blows the signal six times. Some engineers make it short while others blow the two-one-one signal for a full block. Sorry to say, you gotta live with it but you get used to it.
