Catch 22

As a regular rut occupant myself, it can be very frustrating. When you are not in a rut, you clearly understand that change is necessary to break the pattern and that it is never too late to make life changes, small or large. Unfortunately, when you are healthy enough to clearly understand this, you are not in the rut or needing change. When you are in the rut, change seems too daunting.
Change is required when in a rut. Start small and less drastic. Simple things like you diet or what exercising you are doing. Keep increasing the significance of the change until you get out of the rut. Sometimes this is darn near impossible if the rut is deep enough but it is what has to happen.
You msy end up going back to school and changing careers but I probably wouldn't start with that change. However, don't be scared of that change if it is eventually required.
