So here it is almost 11 at night and there are 2 kids in the extreme electronics park lot about 10 and 16 years old and what are they doing yelling throwing around a ball and doing tricks on a skate board do we not have parks for just this purpose? What annoys me a a resident of this area is since the kids have started hanging out here doing this the vandalism has started to is tagging and trash being left laying around. When you call the police to make a complaint it's always the same story we will get someone over there when we have a chance and when the do show up hours later if they come at all the offenders are long gone and you get the call back from them saying sorry we couldn't find anything.

it's very possible their parents are at work and the older is supposed to be taking care of the younger. Yes we do have a skate park, but I don't know if you've noticed WHERE it is, it's likely the most unsavory spot in the city after dark. Plus no busses after 11pm to get back home.  
 
Yes they're being inconsiderate, yes their life would likely be better if ma and pop were around more, yes they should pick up their trash, yes there is no excuse for vandalism.  
 
But the reality is they're safer there than at our "designated skate park" it's summer they're out having fun, and they may be an annoyance but I wouldn't expect tings to change anytime soon. be glad they're harmless and just annoying

Police resources are already thin enough without sending a couple officers to watch a couple kids playing catch and doing ollies on their skateboards. Also you can't just label every kid as a vandal either. There are a lot of them in this city and most aren't kids either.  
 
If you see them committing a crime or up to no good then pick up the phone and call the police, if not I would just let them enjoy their summer holidays.

Yes remember they are only littering and vandalizing your neighborhood why would you expect anything to be done about it. Just like when they move up to smashing windows and looting stores it only affects the store why bother investigating, only when it gets to your house it is a problem right. Would not want to teach the young ones that people are watching what they do (even if their parents don't) so as they might think twice about being a drain on the community.

I think that the above comment is going a little far. Assuming that all kids who hang out in parking lots after dark are going to grow up to loot stores and become convicts is pretty ignorant. As somebody in the emergency response field I 100% agree that our resources are already stretched thin enough without calling the police to come and slap some kids on the wrist for not picking up a wrapper. Sure there is vandalism, but have you seen the kids who hang out in parking lots actually doing the vandalizing? Until you do I think it's not really your place to blame the parents for not supervising their "delinquent" children. We don't all live in a world where having a stay at home parent to guide us through each and every day is a possibility. A vast majority of the parents in the world are doing the best they can and don't need you judging them for not being able to be at home every evening with their kids. They're probably trying to balance that with other important things like, you know, paying for the house the kids sleep in and buying food for the kids to eat. I'm sure they're irritating to you, and it's great that you're such a model parent that you are in a position to pass judgement on other parents, but these kids don't sound like hardened criminals, so just leave them alone.

no where did i say all unsupervised children become delinquents but the op has posted there have been problems in the area no one from the parents to the police seem to care. if you cant raise decent children dont have them. cant afford to have 6 kids or 2 or 1 dont have children. if you cant raise your children to pick up after themselves dont have children. if you cant teach them not vandalize others property, i think you can see where im going with this. would you prefer the op waited around all night with a baseball bat to educate the litter bugs and vandals or should the well paid police force do there jobs and maybe try a little preventive policing before people take actions into there own hands

Holly crap what is this world coming to? About a 10 and 16 year old playing in a business parking lot. They are skateboarding and playing with a ball. Well last I checked at about 10:30 the other night it was still light out.....so I am thinking that it was just after dark and they were playing in the light of the business. Thank god I lived in an area back home where fellow neighbors embraced their children. We spend upwards till midnight playing kick the can where we hid around homes/driveways/bushes and played. We didn't spray paint homes, steal, vandalize, etc. These parents had no problems of us running around at dark as they knew what we were doing. We were safe, watched over by the community (doesn't it take a village to raise a child?) and wore ourselves out playing. Now if these kids were running around with a spray can then I may have a different tune. This is no different than say kids on my block. They and their friends work on their cars, I think the tin can muffler sounds stupid but whatever, that is my opinion.....but I will take that and the bass of music every so often over these kids car hopping, tagging buildings, getting into trouble. I have seen more adults being dicks than a few stray kids out in the street. But I guess some people must want kids sitting inside their homes playing video games because that is much safer.....oh wait....quieter for the adults.

Like I said, it must be nice to be such an outstanding parent. I'm glad you were clearly able to raise angels and stay home with them to supervise their every move. It's not about being able to afford kids, raise decent kids, discipline kids. Situations change as well. Maybe it was 2 parents with 2 kids and one was at home but now the situation is different and a single parent is trying to stay afloat. You have no idea. Vandalism increasing and kids hanging out outside may be a correlation, but it's not a causative relationship. They're kids out doing what kids do. At least they're outside and not sitting at a computer becoming obese and diabetic like so many of our children these days are. Until they start smashing windows and looting, and someone can actually prove that they're the problem, like so many of us have said, just get over it. They're not hurting anybody, and the designated parks for them to hang out in aren't exactly kid friendly after about 6pm, so what do you expect?

I'm always happy to see kids getting exercise. Even at night.  
 
If they're being too noisy, you could ask them to quiet down before complaining on the internet.

So....in the OP nowhere did it reference these two kids littering or vandalizing property. They just get referenced with the few that actually do wrong. Look at all the Timmies cups and smoke butts from adults littering the ground. Should kids be educating adults with bats on where garbage goes too? Can you see where I am going with this? When spring hits and the snow melts I really don't think that all the garbage left around town is caused by punks eating out and tossing out their garbage. There are countless times I have seen adults dump their ashtray in the middle of the road. Same goes for old appliances, couches, our river banks littered with bait containers and gloves....from what I have witnessed and try to report is all from adults. tafeel it goes both ways.

Honestly just talk to them. Most kids have no idea there effecting other people and will at least try not to be a pain in the ass if you talk to them.
