I can see why information is not given out ahead of time about which Dr. is on walk-in because then people will be more likely to wait until the day that their favorite Dr. is on walk-in to go, which takes away from patients who really need the walk-in service.
However, I do not see any reason that a person could not call in and ask which Dr. was currently at walk-in. It is a patients right not to have to deal with a Dr. that they do not wish to have care for them. What would be the difference in calling ahead, or just going there, seeing the Dr. name on the board, and leaving if you aren't comfortable with that Dr. Most people will not spend their entire week calling every single day until they find out their favorite Dr. is at walk-in.
It is usually not that difficult to get in to see your own Dr. when it is not an urgent matter, so most people would probably wait the couple weeks it may take too get an appointment. And if it is very urgent, again, your own Dr. can usually get you in quickly, or in certain cases, they will meet you over at emergency, or the admin. staff will tell you if they happen to be on walk-in.
One time, I had a very urgent issue, and called my family Dr. right away, and they told me he happened to be on walk-in, and to go see him. If my kids are sick, but not in need of immediate attention, we usually get in the same day, or the next day at the very worst.
