it'll cost ya $15.00. More than reasonable given the international reputation this man has.

Probably not charging much of a speaking fee since proceeds are going to support Brandons Assiniboine food forest,one of North America's largest permaculture habitat regeneration projects.

You can explore related videos. It's quite remarkable how little this guy actually knows compared to what many people believe him to know, especially in the case of his Australian visit.  
 
Hope he paid his carbon credits to get to Australia & back.

He would prefer to appear by video conference?  
 
I can't imagine what could possibly be stopping him from doing that. The technology exists, and so do the venues across Canada.  
 
But I guess you can't really justify charging $15 for coming to see him on a video conference.  
 
My opinion only, if Suzuki wanted to he would. There is absolutely nothing stopping him, other than not getting the $$$ for making a personal appearance.  
 
I don't believe he's making decisions with the environment in mind, I believe he's making decisions with his bank account in mind

That goes back to my original point. If this is about democracy, then what makes Suzuki an authority?  
 
He's a fruit fly scientist and the CBC made him into a science personality, like Bill Nye the Science guy except less entertaining.  
 
I'm not sure what value someone spending $15 is going to get by listening to David Suzuki who does exactly the opposite of what he criticizes evil corporations for doing.  
 
How does one become an authority on democracy anyway? Are we listening to him as a scientist or as a celebrity-esque speaker?  
 
I'm not being an ass, I just don't get what he has to offer when his global warming alarm was found to be false? He should stick to telling people about fruit flies. He seemed knowledgeable about that.

Why pay to see someone talk about something he can not backup

Well climate change is real.. if that's what you mean?  
I don't think he said hes an authority on democracy, I think the purpose is to talk to people about the importance of it, to get people involved and excited about it even.. I guess we won't know unless we go. And no one has to go if they don't want to

Global Warming isn't happening. Sorry, independent research has demonstrated that, which is what made Suzuki look less credible.

Don't need a guy like Suzuki spreading the message about democracy. There's already enough negative associated to politicians & voting.

I am not interested in hearing what David Suzuki has to say so I won't be going. However, there was a time I held him in high regard. I first became aware of him in the early 80's and he came across as highly intelligent and credible. I miss those days.  
 
It seems that he has now become a bit of a crotchety extremist. I don't respect his thoughts or opinions much these days but I certainly respect the man he used to be.

not wrong with our agriculture except with all the chemicals they spray I used to farm and wanted to go organic but told it was a lost cause look at all the pesticide related illnesses but these big chemical companies say you get better yeilds and returns on your crop at what cost people getting or bee population diing because of a granular herbicide they are using these shows like david suzuki puts on tv or speaks at is making us aware what is happening to us humans or our world and we are losing our farms do to harper letting these trade agreements dump other country imports and flood our markets which hurt our farmers cash flow like the dairy imports they trying to let in so yes I would pay my 15 dollars to see david suzuki to here what is happening to our world

Has David Suzuki spoken out against wealth and capitalism? Or just major polluting corporations? There is a big difference. I just spent some time reading, I could be wrong, but I can't find anything where he put a major clear stance against wealth and capitalism.  
 
Personally I think if somebody can help raise awareness to environmental issues and at the same time make a buck, I say all the power to them, good for them, sure better than making a buck running a coal mine.  
 
Now, had David Suzuki been making all this money while speaking out against world poverty and capitalism, then yes that would be hypocritical, along with unethical.  
 
But as it stands though, I don't see anything hypocritical.  
 
And appearances through video just wouldn't sell tickets, and therefore not raise money for the above said cause, so him coming down here is justifiable, and if this is part of tour, perhaps he's carpooling in a bus with all the other speakers, or driving a prius, or some other reasonably carbon friendly transportation choice? Why presume otherwise?  
 
Lastly, given the seating capacity of the centennial auditorium, and that there is supposed to be money left over for the cause, simple math tells me that he's not charging much of a fee, if any, for this appearance.

I've always wanted to see him speak. He is a brilliant guy and wants nothing but a healthy world for all of us and our children. He has great advice and wisdom to help governments make the right decisions

I Read about it, seems as though in a nutshell, it intends to replace any element of our capitalist system that derives itself from unsustainable resources, and do it within 35 years.  
 
But David Suzukis wealth didn't come directly from unsustainable resources, so wouldn't be hypocritical, however though, now that I think about it, looking further, being that 20% of Canada's economy is based off of natural resources, one could assume that despite how many times money traded hands before finally finding its way into David Suzukis bank account, 20% of that money was at some point sourced from peoples jobs in natural resource development.  
 
So in that sort of sense, I'll concede that your about 20% correct that David Suzuki is a hypocrite

I'm a completely conventional farmer (use all the terrible chemicals properly) there is no end of bees or wildlife around my place, you must have been doing it wrong.  
 
BTW golf courses and lawns use a lot of chemical too but no sense worrying about something so vital to the human race like golf or pretty lawns.  
 
Food isn't that important.

You can learn a lot from this.  
When you examine yourself closely  
we are probably all hypocrites from time to time.  
 
What, are you going to burn books too to prevent knowledge?  
 
Think about it. You might just go, spend $15 and actually  
learn something that will make your life a little bit better  
than it would have been, if you didn't.

....how much of the vitriol directed towards Mr. Suzuki has its origins in the guilt individuals feel when they recognize that he, and others like him, have identified them as part of the problem.
