Not sure how they work on carpet, but don't bother for bare floors. My brother has the top of the line one and all it does is push dirt around into the corners.

They are loud and don't do the best job. Wall mart has a bissel on sale for under $70.0

I love my roomba, it's the one thing I never knew I needed. Cleans my hardwood and my carpets no problem, get under beds and chairs. I get to come home from work to a clean house. We have three pets, so lots of pet hair, and I was getting tired of vacuuming every couple of days.

my daughter just got one. she loves it, it picks up all the pet hairs and crumbs and then it goes back to the docking station to recharge. saves her a lot of time in a busy household

I also have the pet series room a and love it. It works awesome on Hardwood and carpets. I don't have pets but lots of dust and hair.

Don't have one, but if we did I'd get a Neato. Seems to be a better option that a Roomba.

Neato are notorious for dying after a few months. Nothing but problems with them. On paper they looked cool as they scanned the room first, but real world it fails to deliver. Roomba puts it to shame.
