My employer changed our paydays on us without notice and I am steamed. I have a few bills and rent that come out automatically on my payday. Now i have to pay 10 each to do a stop payment on each one and call each of them and change the payday. Wish my employer gave us notice of change.

There are many people without a job and paycheque.

Why should wildflower have to shell out at least $50 to change her automatic payments because her employer was inconsiderate?  
As for people without jobs/paycheques - then they must be receiving some sort of govt. cheque as no one can exist without money and I'd bet they would be p.o.'d if it was sent out on a later date than expected.  
A lot of people, whether employed, retired, whatever, live pretty much payday to payday and should be able to know when their money is coming.

Employers can change pay days but they need to give you notice and they can't make it be further away than your current one. What I mean by this is if you are paid every other Friday and are switching to the opposite weeks, they can't say you have to wait 3 weeks for your next cheque, they have to do a 1-week pay period in between to bump you to opposite Friday's. There are a few reasons for this - you must be paid within 7 days (I believe) of earning your pay and you must be paid at least twice a month. We did this once and it also screwed up ROE's for people who needed EI after being laid off and EI had a fit about it even though we did it properly. It will also screw up your CPP because there is an allowance automatically calculated into each cheque and if you miss a cheque it may screw you up for tax time but that's a whole other issue .
