Can't control the outcome so why force the issue.  
 
It is politics after all. Way too many variables taking place behind the scenes to simply suggest someone step down...now!  
 
It will be what it will be and all things will happen in their own time.

And now of course a new and younger candidate comes forward, a woman to boot, and it's time to attack. "Remember" the two plus years of Trudeau attacks?  
 
I don't have a stake in this area but it's shaping up to be a real race and maybe it's time for real change???

..."because it's 2015" after all. The shift has already started. A person cannot deny the aurora of change that has happened in our federal government. Much needed and long overdue. All things are possible in the political arena...Oct 19th proved that.

Very interesting! Wonder if it is just general disatisfaction with the current NDP government or the feeling that maybe Caldwell has just been around too long?

The poll is interesting. I think the last round of municipal elections also gave hints as to where the province was at. Winnipeg nor Brandon elected the NDP mayoral candidate.  
 
I also find it interesting that many feel Vanessa is hoping to ride the coat tails of the Federal Liberal party. To this day I wonder, was our federal election one that the liberals won, or one that the cons lost. I have seen many times at all levels elections that were more about getting someone out, rather than getting someone in. I personally don't hold any memberships to political parties and have no one way of always voting, so when I question things like was this an election that was won, or an election that was lost I do so without being pro one party. So I wonder in the case of Vanessa if there is even any coat tails to ride.

I will be voting for the party that doesn't promise the moon and won't say how much their plans cost. Times are tough and no doubt will get worse. I want a party that will be fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of this province.  
 
For only the second time in my voting life I will be changing my party. Plus I'm making history! I will cast my vote for the Tories, first time ever!

I am an East Ender. I have always voted for the NDP candidate. I cannot remember a time when the East End was't NDP. I will not be voting NDP in the upcoming election. Nor would I vote for a candidate that can't decide which party they wish to represent. I think Mr Caldwell is in for a surprise. Time for a change!

As per Hamilton, expectation is resignation of council position will come March 18:

in April is the election? Doesn't give Vanessa a lot of time to get out there and campaign.

According to CKLQ online website Vanessa's campaign kick off is this Saturday at the EECC with Rana Bokhari to be in attendance.  
 
Is there any rules regarding sitting on city council and campaigning for a provincial seat? There should be!  
 

Once again I am disappointed with the city, it's council and management.  
 
I think Hamilton should resign her position on council immediately. Why should my tax dollars go toward her ambitions of becoming an MLA?  
 
It BURNS me that Brandon taxpayers are already on the hook for paying for a by-election to fill her council seat - what? $50 grand? Only.  
 
The human behind the politician at every level of government need to take some accountability for the costs they leave behind when they start reaching for the stars.  
 
I take issue with anyone who blatantly wastes taxpayer dollars like this.  
 
I would ask Hamilton to finish out her term on city council but for me, at least, she has tarnished the integrity I thought she possessed.  
 
Everyone is in a rush to go nowhere. Finish what you start. Especially when it costs taxpayers money!
