Does anyone know what's going on in downtown Minnedosa just after midnight today, January 1st? got home around 1:30 am and every street but one is blocked off with police, fire trucks and ambulances. Met one ambulance headed toward Brandon on my way into town. I didn't see any fire. Wonder if there was a New Years party that went badly? Does anyone know anything?

It's been going on since 7 pm they locked down Main Street

It seems to be over with now,some people in the area were evacuated,I heard the gunfire around 2am,it was quite scary!

It's over now they got the guy in custody now I hope they let us know what happened and why!

Not a good way to start off a New Year!  
Really hope no one was hurt and that there were no children in the home.

We live in the building ... we have 2 small children, 2 and a 6 year old, we were home about half hour before they gave us 2 mins to try packing our kids up and leave.. and still, we are not allowed home yet. We are safe and dont know what happened really! I would really like to know.. seen ctv news van out side with a video camera. And cops are still parked outside.

I cnt express anymore how thankful I am, the rcmp did a very great job! Im so thankful they did they're job as professional as possible, and did anything to protect my children!!!! Many many thanks to all the officers who risked their lives!!!!

......the RCMP fired a canister of tear gas into the apartment and took the man into custody.

that is over! Many thanks for a job well done by all officers, medical and fire teams! It was scary trying to get home to the north side of town short of going back on the highway for another entrance into town. It was a little more than just main street blocked off but eventually figured a way around it to get home. I'm happy to hear no one was hurt or injured in this incident! Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!

Kudos not only to the officers who risked their lives, the medical and fire teams, but to the bakery owner who provided food to them. Well done!
