LPN to BN bridge

While it is true as previously stated that there is a new bridging program at BU for LPNs to upgrade and obtain a degree in nursing, one should consider that there are requirements for getting into this program. The LPN must have a minimum number of hours of experience before applying to the bridge program. They must also have any additional pre-requisite courses that are not part of the LPN program (statistics and university writing for example). There is a letter of reference from the employer that is needed as part of the application process. Finally, there are only 6 seats reserved each year for bridging students, which means it is a competition between all interested and qualified LPNs that apply to the program. Ultimately GPA from the LPN program at ACC and any pre-requisite courses will be considered alongside the reference from the employer to help decide which 6 individuals will be awarded a spot. During the first 2 years that the program has been running there have been roughly a dozen nurses who have competed for the seats. If the degree is your ultimate goal in order to pursue a career as an RN it is likely in your best interest to take the entire program at BU as there are many more seats available for BN students than those available to bridging LPNs.
Good luck to you in your future studies!
