Did someone else post the same thing?

If anyone would be checking furnace you'd think it would be someone from mb hydro. And not today as its a holiday. Id look more into it. Did you let them in?

I meant to ask what area you live in. Misread the post.

Did not let him in. He said he would take his shoes off. And said this block was responsibility. I assume he was from some company who was going to try to sell me a new furnace. He was from some eco company. My husband did not get the exact name unfortunately.

Had the same thing happen at my house, didn't catch the guys name but he worked for just energy.  

Just had guy here. Told him I was not the home owner,lol.  
That got rid of him fast, saved me the time of listening to his pitch.  
Was from Just Energy.

Please do NOT deal with these people! They are an alternative option to get your natural gas from instead of MB Hydro, but I made the mistake of signing up with them, and my gas bill doubled for 5 years...we were paying $500.00/mo with just energy and when the contract finally expired, our bill went down to $250.00 - I felt like such a fool. The guy was very annoyed when I wouldn't renew the contract, and was quite aggressive - they have NO reason to be in your home!

told the guy if price goes higher he pays the difference, if it goes lower i give him the difference.

not like your getting a separate line for gas or power from these guys. It's still coming from Manitoba Hydro or Centra Gas. These guys are not supplying power or gas from their own separate sources.

live in east end. This guy came in and said he wanted to check out furnace. I asked for more info and was either very reluctant to give out more info, or didn't really know what he was talking about. either way, he didn't make it past the front door.

They are out updating the voters list, as they were at my place Monday night.

It was a guy from Green Energy who came to my door last night in the East End. He said he wanted to chat about regular service for my heating and cooling system. Thankfully my dogs were anxious to see who is there, and made it easy for me to tell him that my furnace is already regularly serviced and he left.

This evening he asked to come in and check our appliances. My husband told him we had all new appliances. He then said he wanted to check our water. Told him we already had that tested. He said he was with Simply Green. Said the government wanted them to come check it all out. If your selling something just say so, don't try and mislead people into letting you in.

This happens in Ontario all the time. You are signing a contract for a fixed gas rate. It's higher at first but you are speculating that it'll go up and therefore one day be at a lower rate. I don't like these. And the sales people are very pushy so don't get sucked in at the door.

Door-to-door anything is annoying and I don't care who it is or what they want. I don't bother anyone at home at 4am when I'm wide awake.  
 
These Simply Green guys didn't even have a business card to leave with me. Colour me impressed. "Alex" said I could research their website. Pushy people on my property p*ss me off.  
 
Things were said that I can't put on here. Dog will be released next time.  
 
Annoying, even with their little tags and clipboards. They should not be able to state that the government sent them.  
 
I miss -35C. It keeps more of the creeps off the streets.  
 

They came to our house last night. What they are doing is seeing if homeowners can access a government grant to replace old, outdated a/c units and furnaces. It is a company called Simply Green. They were not pushy by any means, and quite nice. That being said I don't know the particulars of the grant, etc. I just don't understand why people get their underwear in a bunch when people come a knocking. Why be rude to them?

Its a scam and according to the below article they have no connection to Hydro.

But from what I was reading about home inspectors, this technology is not saving you any money. You don't often see a lot of door to door sales today . (maybe chocolate bar sales)

Ontario company.  
A quick check of the owners names shows that they have also been involved with a company called Ontario consumers home services.

Of anyone coming to your house pretending to work for Manitoba hydro. Please call them first before letting the person in. The person should have an id and photo. People have been reporting to the police in Winnipeg, Brandon and Selkirk. They would ask about your furnace. This is a scam. Beware
