So I went to the Presidents Dinner last night. Now this wasn't my first time going. Normally in the past you would be greeted and thanked for being there by the President(figured cause its the President's Dinner)  
 
Now last night was a different story. I walked in got my ticket and everything like normal and then nothing.... no greeting, not a single thanks for being there.  
 
I realize it is a new President that she got put in but I paid a good amount of money to support this fundraiser and the least I could get was a hand shake. If the president didn't do a speech after dinner I wouldn't even know who it was.  
 
Also when I got there it wasn't that busy so it isn't like they were busy shaking someone else's hand.  
 
Next year I doubt I'll even go. The decorations were very boring compared to past years. Last years entertainment was amazing, so I figured it would be worth the higher price this year.  
 
Sadly let down.

It was a dinner last night put on by the Provincial Exhibition. They put on the Winter Fair.

It is the president's dinnernof the exhibition association dinner they put on Royal winter fair and the summer fair and brand new this year the Manitoba rodeo finals.  
As for the supper we arrived around 6 and the president was there shaking hands. In my opinion the decorations were very tasteful. The ventriloquist was a lot better than disco laser guy last year. The meal I thought last year was better than this year. The speeches were way better this year last year I think the scholarship people spoke and last year a lot more speeches. The only downfall which has been gòing on for a long time!e is not enough stand up tables during cocktails.

so basically you are saying if the president doesn't smooch your rear you won't support them anymore?

No not saying that. Saying that i was let down seeing as I spend good money on these events and I didn't even get a thank you. Might as well look at spending my money on a different community event. As they don't seem to need my money that much or appreciate it. I also wasn't the only one that didn't get a greeting at the door. As talking to others at the event said they didn't either. A little thanks goes a long way.

Why was the dinner held at the Vic? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for the Vic doing the dinner. However, isn't the Provincial Ex a big part of the Keystone's yearly budget? It would make sense to me that the dinner would be held at the Keystone. Maybe the Keystone got a little greedy, and forced the dinner elsewhere? Maybe the Provincial Ex is looking to spread their dollars around the community?

I am sorry that you were not greeted and thanked when you arrived at the Presidents dinner. As one of the directors I know that all the support we get from the community is so very much appreciated. I was also there last night and also arrived somewhat before most arrived. Our new president was indeed at the door greeting people however I think she had just gotten there and just got things sorted out. I don't know the situation as to why you were not greeted, but I do know we as directors wear a lot of hats for the Provincial Exhibition and do wear with pride. Why you were not greeted could have something to do with one of those wonderful hats our president wears and I am sure if she knew that she missed greeting you she would have made a point to come and talk to you.  
 
Believe me our president as well as all our directors take great pride in this organization we are a part of and I want to say I am sorry that there is that perception we don't want your support. Truth is, the Provincial Exhibition would not be the organization it is without people like you and everyone else that has supported us for all these years. Please don't take this as a sign that you are not valued.

The provincial ex is a wonderful organization for our community. They bring in thousands and thousands of dollars into our local economy with the events that they organize. If you are a business person in this town that relies on the extra income that comes during the fairs, you should be thanking them! ... And supporting them in anyway we can. I hope the op's comments do not influence others not to attend/support in the future. If you have an issue with a local group or business, contact them directly. You probably would have gotten your apology sooner.
