They need it. A few years ago there was a water main break on my street where we didn't have water for 14 hours and apparently it happens a lot because I know people who have also been without water for long periods. I don't see what the big deal is. Cant be critical of everything. Its really no different than a fire truck. You hope there's no fires, yet fires happen.  
 
Also is there anyone who hauls drinking water here in Brandon? There's a few that haul water for pools and citrens, but I was told that you cant drink that water and its only for pools, laundry, showers. I was told by a guy who use to haul water that the water that you can pick up at the water treatment plant hasn't been properly treated for safe consumption. You also need a stainless steel tank that is approved to haul drinking water.

Fish it's for POTABLE water in case of an emergency. Do you really want to be drinking out of the water tank that was just full of fertilizer and water for caring for the flowers? I suspect when they order new ambulances, and fire trucks they could say "we hope we never have to use them, but having them will improve our chance of saving a life"

Yes, I had the same thought.  
 
It's insurance. I don't mind insurance. I would rather see money go to things like that than redundant clerics in the office.

Well I think your friend is sniffing to much glue man...I have hauled water for years for drinking with a white plastic tank...That is all I have ever seen for drinking water or not for drinking.. Just as long as it is clean and had no chemicals put in the tank it would be good to go...also the ones that haul water get it from the treatment plant so it can be drank.. Its not like they are pumping it from a dug out to fill a pool with.lol

That's just what I was told and the guy who told me use to work for the city and had hauled water after retirement for years. Could be wrong though. But I do know years ago when I worked on a drilling rig the guy who hauled is drinking water hauled it with a truck stainless steel tank.

Maybe I just question it more as they state "  
if they ever need" or "we could use in these situations if they came up". I didn't see where it points to instances where stuff has happened and would have really helped. More of a just in case. As for the ambulance or firetruck purchase.....have we needed to have fire trucks or ambulances needed? Yes. They mention it is not meant to replace a commercial water supply or household tasks such as laundry, dishes, or bathing. So if you are out of water for 14 hours I really cannot see them bringing out this trailer and parking it in the middle of the road and say please bring your water jugs to fill for drinking. And around here there are a lot of people that haul their own water. This is just another thing I questioned like mowing the grass when it is not growing in the heat of the summer and all that is getting done is dust blowing around.....or watering flowers in a rain storm. These kinds of things.

But 'Fishin Guy' your making an issue out of nothing. Like the article says it wont replace water for Landry, bathing, washing dishes, but the trailer will be used for drinking water and water for food preparation. Also this is Brandon and not very many people here in Brandon haul there own drinking water. I've lived here my whole life and have never heard of anyone doing that. In Winnipeg they have lots of these trailers that they park on the street when there is a water main break or frozen pipes, then people come down and get water from the tapes on the side of the trailer. Its good that Brandon has purchased this trailer and I would hope it gets used lots and in the same way Winnipeg does. We will se I guess.  
 
And just because you may not think its needed, doesn't mean its not need. They wouldn't of bought it if there wasn't a need for it. Cant be critical of everything.
