Looking to insulate our basement and finish it. I was wondering if any other people have done this recently and what ways they went about insulating and what kinda costs that way incured.

I had McReal do mine from minnedosa and wow its an old basement and I am so glad I did it, no itchy batts and no vapor barrier to install afterwards. I only have 2 windows in the basement and I was worried about the fumes as the gf has issues with sinuses and all I did was put a fan in one window for a few hours to get the fumes out and it Really the smell wasn't a big deal I was more worried about her..

I would say cost is a big factor - Is spray foam insulation not a lot more expansive ?

Having insulated a few new homes with the Batts, and then having a house spray foamed I would highly recommended spray foaming. When you factor in time spray foaming is much faster; it might be slightly more expensive but would do it again.

Ya that's my main concern is what would the cost of the same size basement be hand batt or spray foam. just ballpark estimates but it would be nice

Also I was wondering what would the protocol be with basement seepage or water damage to spray foam. With hand batt you gotta rip it out let it dry re insulate and vapour barrier and dry wall. What would you do with spray foam.
