A sobering reminder today of the disaster that's unfolded in Northern Alberta and of just how connected we all are.... it looks (and smells) like forest fire smoke has made its way all the way to Brandon.

It looks like Environment Canada isn't putting out air quality index readings at the moment, but they were forecasting "low" risk for today into tomorrow for Brandon:

Water Bombers over Carberry

Fire department has gone out of town multiple times with sirens going this morning. Water bombers and helicopters with water buckets flying over head.

They could have been heading to the Whiteshell to help fire the forest fires in that area of Manitoba.

There is a fire there too apparently headed for spruce woods. They are having a hard time keeping it under control

Just wondering if you (or anyone else) have anymore information about this fire? I couldn't find anything about it on the provincial fire report.

Seriously, these fires are scary. Hope all the campers and people with fire pits will respect the burning bans and be extra careful.
