Got my plants from Walmart and found bees dead after feeding on the plant. I am not a well informed consumer as I didn,t realize they may be using neonicotinoids in their plants or any other insecticide.
Can anyone confirm or deny this is the case? And maybe the poor bees died from another cause.

Pretry sure all the bedding plants and baskets are grown in Carman, MB at Vanderveen's. Can't speak to their perennials and shrubs around the outside area of the garden center. Same at superstore, Most of it comes from Carman. People have been spraying for the caterpillars. Perhaps that has something to do with the dead bees???

I wonder too if it's the spraying. I'm conscious about where my plants come from, no chemicals in my yard, etc, but I've found a few dead bees in my lawn the past few days. Our one tree is in flower right now, so we have lots attracted to our yard.

So sad to see dead bees.

It is not that cut & dried according to your article. "It may", "further studies are needed", "low risk"...these statements are written into the article...read it carefully. It is not completely proven safe nor does it pose no risk.
