Protect myself, the best I could anyways. Not much of a fighter lol.  
There is always the chance that said group of teens could put you in a wheelchair for the rest of your life, while they get away with a tiny little slap on the wrist for being underage.  
 
When you're life is presented to you on a platter like that, are you going to be worried about the legalities of the situation?

25 years ago I lost my older brother to a homicide. He was jumped by several people who wanted his case of beer. I'm fighting for my life if put in the same situation.

can always defend yourself using reasonable force and there is no legal repercussions. If someone starts shooting at you with a gun you can shoot back with a gun.  
 
If a 14 year old punches you then you can punch them back and use reasonable force to protect yourself. You cannot however shoot them with a gun because this is not a reasonable amount of force needed in the situation.

But seriously, even if there was some question as to HOW you can defend yourself, what are you supposed to do - ask them to stop attacking you to see their ID before deciding on your course of action?  
 
I think would go down swinging with all you've got. Heck, if a bunch of seven year old looking kids come at you with rocks, bottles or bats, are you going to stand there and take that?

I guess it's a sad reflection on todays society, that someone should even think about having to ask this question and sadly it's only going to get worse.

If it were me in that situation, I would respond with equal force until the threat was stopped...  
Self-defense is most certainly a right, even in "sunny ways" Canada...

exactly what I was thinking. Just wanted to see if that thinking was shared by others. If you initiate the attack, you deserve it back, male or female.

Section 34 of the CCC allows anyone to defend themselves or another person and offers protection against being charged. It also sets out considerations for what is reasonable in the circumstances.  
 
Seems like, in this one man's opinion, that we have a pretty good balance in the law so that we can protect ourselves or others without fear of prosecution yet ensures that it is do e in a reasonable manner.

(a) they believe on reasonable grounds that force is being used against them or another person or that a threat of force is being made against them or another person:  
 
(b) the act that constitutes the offence is committed for the purpose of defending or protecting themselves or the other person from that use or threat of force: and  
 
(c) the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances.

(2) In determining whether the act committed is reasonable in the circumstances, the court shall consider the relevant circumstances of the person, the other parties and the act, including, but not limited to, the following factors:  
 
(a) the nature of the force or threat:  
 
(b) the extent to which the use of force was imminent and whether there were other means available to respond to the potential use of force:  
 
(c) the person’s role in the incident:  
 
(d) whether any party to the incident used or threatened to use a weapon:  
 
(e) the size, age, gender and physical capabilities of the parties to the incident:  
 
(f) the nature, duration and history of any relationship between the parties to the incident, including any prior use or threat of force and the nature of that force or threat:

After you wop their sorry butts, then go to the parents and do the same.  
To many parents today think they have to be friends with their children, but they forget they have to e disciplinarian also.  
If the parents don't teach the kids right from wrong, the kids will never learn right from wrong until they are arrested.

At that moment in time there are no rules. If there were rules that mattered, you would never be in that situation. Do what you need to, to get home safe. If the cops come banging on your door (which I doubt) just say yes officer, how can I help you? As soon as they question you, say absolutely nothing, make an appointment to see them at the station and take a lawyer
