Road rage: Driver punched in face

    Road rage: Driver punched in face

    What a jerk, twice I might add and then a coward twice again!  
    First he doesn''t turn right on "red light" when traffic is clear and then flips the finger to the guy behind him for honking his horn so traffic can keep moving. I''m not condoning the punch in the face, but if you''re asleep at the wheel and someone prompts you to wakeup and your reaction is to give the bird then you''re a jerk and should be ready to back it up. This guy after giving a "brave bird" decides to coward when confronted and then run to the police. Guy punched him, didn''t send him to hospital in an ambulance. I don''t know where the assault charge will end, but the victim (if I can him that) should get at least a fine for a traffic violation of failing to keep traffic flowing.

    ... someone who did NOT turn right on red (when there's no legal requirement to do so) gets blasted by a horn of a rude and impatient driver. This person when flips the bird to said impatient person, who then goes all road rage and physically assaults the person?  
     
    Did I miss anything, or am I misunderstanding what happened from your des:cription?  
     
    Can you clarify who exactly we're supposed to be mad at, because I'm a little fuzzy on that right now?

    The guy assaulted him, was flipping the bird 'right'? No, but the other guy escalated the aggression. Plus, just because you CAN turn right on a red doesn't mean you HAVE to.

    Turning right on red when the traffic is clear is being a jerk. Keep traffic flowing people. That's why it's allowed! People have things to do, people to see. Who am I to waste people's time behind me when I can legally move. Then flips the bird when awoken from a deep sleep at the wheel. Should have moved and gracefully waved and not flip the birdto escalate a situation. People like this particular person like to play god on the road here in Brandon, insult others. Inconsiderate and rude driver to say the least

    There's no traffic law requirement to turn right on a red. And how do you know if the traffic was clear for him to do so anyway, were you there? Technically he can sit there for the entire light if he wants, I've seen people do that. Sorry, but the jerk is the guy who honked in the first place, and then followed the guy all the way to the next intersection, got out of his vehicle in the middle of traffic and punched him in the face. Extremely unreasonable reaction to getting the finger while driving, which is something that unfortunately happens every day.

    who is to say whether it was clear and safe to turn except for the person who was actually making the decision. The person who assaulted deserves what they get. How about being patient instead of being a dumbass. Now instead of waiting 30 seconds, he gets to spend a bunch of time in court. People are dumb

    This kind of thing happened to me on the weekend. Waiting to turn left onto Richmond from 18th. Lights go green start blinking for the turn signal car #1 goes, car #2 is sitting and sitting and sitting and I see her reflection in her mirror of her on her phone. So I decide to honk to get her attention, I wanted through the turn light as well. What do I get? Her head poked out the window and expletives hollered at me and the graceful finger as well. Let me tell you I was damn tempted to have a few words with that little spoiled brat... (Probably wouldn't have hit her though.)  
     
    People need to start realizing what they do, what this girl did could have gotten her into trouble. She was lucky it was me and not someone like this guy because people do have road rage, might not be a great thing, but it is a fact. Its not worth risking your life(or your face) over giving someone the finger cause you feel entitled to do whatever you want. Flip off the wrong guy and you could be in a world of trouble.

    Story than what is released in bps site. And yes I am connected to this story. The person behind began verbally assaulting the victim at the light as well as honking his horn. It was at the construction at the bridge and victim was unclear if turning was appropriate at the time. The victim did sit at the light while the accused drove into on coming traffic to go around the victim. Thus the victim gave the finger for purposely putting the victim in danger. They met up at the next bank of lights with the accused sitting in the turning lane while the victim was in the straight lane. Accused then got out of his truck and crossed the meradian to approach him. He then had more words and then punched the victim not once but three times in the face. While holding up traffic and with multiple witnesses watching the incident and no one offering help.  
     
    You should maybe get facts before judging someone and name calling.

    Pretty hard to do when others think it's ok to stop way passed the stop line blocking the view. I've sat at a red because I couldn't see if anyone was coming don't really care if I get honked at, a honk or the finger hurts a lot less than getting hit by a car! Why are we rushing so much for just a few seconds?!

    Are built to move traffic! Not wonder if you can or canot make a right turn on red. If you don't know, then one has to wonder why you're driving.  
    I too have seen many looking at their laps when the light is green and yes I count to two, then honk for traffic to flow. I've got a buisiness to run and a family to feed.  
    No time to sit behind cars at green lights or cars waiting to turn right on red when traffic is clear. Answer to question. I highly doubt, but may be wrong in assuming way was clear when both vehicles were waiting to turn right on red. If traffic was constant and guy honked his horn then he is either bling or crazy. Either way, should not be driving!  
    I come froma place and time that when you have the bird it meant that you were inviting someone to dance! When you give the bird, you shouldn't coward!

    Giving someone the bird is not an invitation for assault. If you can''t keep your temper in check over someone flipping you off then you better believe the legal system will deal with you. Your "place and a time" doesn't exist.

    it is irritating g when someone won't go when the road is clear. Yes if you do this you might expect to get honked at. If I honk and the other driver wants to flip me the bird he can go right ahead. I will not see it as just cause to get out of my car and attack him. I might call him a bad name in my mind then I forget about him. A nasty gesture does not count as an excuse for assaulting someone. Sorry but I have to say the driver who assaulted the other is deserving of whatever punishment he gets.

    Why is everyone getting so worked up when your not even involved. Hate to say it but sometimes you have to have the mentality that it''s not my problem, so who cares.  
     
    But anyhow if I got mad every time someone did something dumb behind the wheel or in this case didn''t turn, I''d be getting arrested daily. There''s no point in get mad and having a road rage incident. Bad drivers are a dime a dozen.

    I understand that everyone has places to be, and work to do. You have to wonder if someone should be driving if they pause to ensure they are proceeding safely??? But driving into on coming traffic is okay because they have places to be? I get that many drivers use cell phones when they should not, and that puts others at risk, but that was not the case here. It's drivers who risk others because they are in such a hurry they will break the laws to get where they are going, who make the road unsafe.

    At the present time there are no laws about being a jerk, but there are laws about assaulting people, so we just have to put up with the jerks, unless they take the first action in a physical confrontation, at that point, it's tune up time.

    No,  
    I am not the other guy, but I see drivers daily in Brandon who apparently think that roads are parking lots. Roads were built to get traffic flowing. I never said that the guy who was the assaulter had the right to assault, but when you go around flipping the bird to whomever, someone eventually will call you on it. The flipper, in this case pushed buttons and not everyone will just roll it off as nothing. There are unstable people driving out there and I for one will not be rude and flip the bird at anyone, even someone that is texting and driving. I'm way smarter than that!

    Based on some of posts on here lately, it means running over pedestrians and punching out drivers that waste 5 seconds of your time.
